M. Owen Korsmo, editor
Two years ago, Tom, a good friend and a respected colleague, called me up and told me something that I never knew about him. He loves genealogy.
Not just the old letters, the faded photographs and half-forgotten family members, he loves taking the flotsum of family history and making it an interesting story that can be passed from generation to generation.
He had a passion I didn’t know of and plan he was just hatching. What if there were a website that could help organize, highlight and present this information in an evocative way—as website, as a book or both? No other website was offering exactly this kind of service.
A gifted artist and an accomplished designer (I love his logos), he had the pictures, but needed the words.
That’s where I came in.
We joined forces, I wrote the web content and he and a programmer did the really hard stuff—all the gadgets and gizmos behind my words.
I had written for a wide variety of media as a journalist, editor and fiction writer, but never something like this website.
We agreed that the copy should be warm and inviting, easy and friendly—accessible to even the uninitiated or computer phobic.
In the months to come, I intend to offer editorial services through this site to help you frame, focus and hone your family’s story to one that, well, acts as a proud footnote to history.
Like Tom, I’m here to help.
